In the busyness of our lives the
soul, at times, gets crowded out
of our day. The soul is shy and
does not demand center stage.
This retreat is an invitation to
some soul time—a pause from your
busy schedule for the spiritual
medicine of deep listening,
keeping vigil with the hours of
the day. You will be drawn into
waiting and watchfulness, trust
and surrender, silence and solitude.
Each pause will be a little vigil, a
remembrance of the Beloved,
encouraging you to believe in the
possibility of living reflectively in
the midst of the beautiful struggle
of daily life.
Although the retreat is not totally
silent, we assume that if you come
to a contemplative retreat or other
experience, you will have some
desire to be led to the deepening
places, which requires a faithful
listening to the spaces between
the words. We would also hope to
find in you a willingness to help
create the kind of atmosphere in
which your companion seekers in
the retreat will be led to the green
pastures by still waters, to live in the
shadow of God’s wings.
