Our purpose is to promote the exchange and sharing of wisdom gleaned through the perspective of Christian contemplative and mystical spirituality. On the paths we tread in this journey, we walk in silence in order to better hear and pursue our loving friendship with God and his Son Jesus Christ, the Living Word who speaks in a still small voice to the silent, waiting heart. We honor and follow the One who brings about inner awakening, transformation and theosis through awareness of his presence in all of life. We encourage you to enter into this “spiritual space,” join the conversation and find and foster companions on the spiritual journey.

It has been our experience that spiritual friendship can be nourished online. We are reminded of John O’Donohue’s description of a soul friend, in his native Gaelic an "anam cara." “The anam cara experience opens a friendship that is not wounded or limited by separation or distance. Such friendship can remain alive even when the friends live far away from each other. Because they have broken through the barriers of persona and egoism to the soul level, the unity of their souls is not easily severed. When the soul is awakened, physical space is transfigured… With your anam cara you awaken the eternal. In this soul-space there is no distance.” (Anam Cara, p. 10)
We believe that soul friends can be made regardless of space and distance between them, and that having companions for the journey is a gift from God. Though we are silent before God, our practice of awareness includes listening to and sharing with others on the same mystic passage. May you find peace, companionship and glimpses of the Divine as you enter this spiritual space.

Mission Statement: Our goal at Companions for the Silent Journey is to provide a forum for the mutual sharing of spiritual wisdom and insight gained in the practice of Christian mysticism which includes centering prayer, contemplation, meditation, lectio divina and other forms of spiritual awakening. We wish to be companions to any and all whom God leads into the silent spiritual journey, regardless of their religious tradition or background. Our vision is to create a “monastery without walls” or a spiritual space without physical place. Our dream is that we can extend this project to encourage and motivate other groups to take their contemplative experience and engage in greater social outreach, so as to help build up the kingdom of God and assist in the spiritual transformation of humankind.
